What's this workshop I keep hearing about?
The H2U Online Workshop is a 6-hour program – completed on your own time – that prepares Canadian students for their first year of university life and academics.
Why 'The Workshop' Is A Must For Every High School Grad
An academic-personal skills combo you won't find anywhere else.
The crisis happening right now at Canadian universities
Every year I see so many students fall into a cycle where poor grades negatively impact mental health, which then makes it even harder to focus on school. Check out this video where I describe the connection I see regularly in students between academic performance and overall wellbeing.
You can avoid this cycle and have an AMAZING first year experience. I'm an award-winning university professor, and I'll give you the inside scoop on how to successfully transition from high school to university. I'll teach you the academic skills you need and get you in the best mindset for you to tackle this transition with confidence and enthusiasm. This is an exciting time. Let's do this!

Hi! I'm Dr. McParland...
But you can call me Shellie
I am a Professor in the Disability Studies Program at King’s University College, an affiliate of Western University, where I engage students in reimagining traditional medical approaches to disability and mental health. I've taught thousands of first- and second-year university students, and my award-winning teaching skills successfully encourage students in their intellectual and personal growth. My research explores identity constructions and health behaviours throughout life transitions, and I have a keen interest in the ways we negotiate new environments and expectations as we take on fresh challenges. I am a former junior/intermediate teacher and have a unique perspective having worked on both sides of the high school to university transition. As an undergraduate student, I was an All-Canadian Track & Field varsity athlete, and following competition was a varsity coach at Western University, winning a national title in 2012. As a founding member of the Western Student-Athlete Mentorship Program, I helped create a structure that continues to provide academic mentoring to varsity athletes as they transition into university.
I started H2U because there is a huge gap between the high school and university experiences that many students struggle to overcome. I genuinely care about my students, and want all Canadians beginning university in September to have the amazing first year they deserve.

I know you’re about to spend a lot of money on education. I went to post-secondary for 173 years, so I get it…money is tight, and you might not be able to make the $200 work even though you see how much value you get for that amount.
That’s why I have frequent sales, like the one on right now for 40% off.
If you still can’t swing it, shoot me an email at [email protected] and we’ll work something out.
I’m not a businessperson. I’m an educator, and I genuinely want you to at least have the opportunity to make the most out of this first year.
This year sets the tone for your adult life. It’s a big deal, and I want you to succeed.
